Root & Ritual is a beauty and wellness sanctuary in Ashland, Kentucky — built on the belief that how you care for yourself shouldn't be rushed, generic, or transactional. Every visit is designed to feel intentional, restorative, and rooted in real results.

Our story.
Root & Ritual was intentionally created by two long-time friends, Angela Jarvis and Clorissa McConnell, who shared a passion for helping people feel beautiful — inside and out.
After years in the beauty industry, we saw a need for something more — more intention, more integrity, and more connection. We envisioned a space where beauty goes beyond the surface and becomes a ritual of self-care, wellness, and confidence.
At Root & Ritual, we believe in using organic, high-quality products that are better for you and the planet. We believe in personalized experiences that honor your individual beauty, your lifestyle, and your journey.

What we do
One studio. Three pillars.
Most med spas force you to choose between aesthetic care and clinical wellness. We do both, under one roof, and we curate them together. Hair, skin, lashes, brows, spray tans, piercings, and teeth whitening on the beauty side. Infrared sauna with red light therapy and IV hydration on the recovery side. Physician-guided Rx weight loss, peptides, and HRT on the wellness side.

No rotating contractors. Our team trains together and consults on your plan together.

Every product on our shelf is tested by us first. If we wouldn't put it on a guest, it doesn't make the cut.

Our Rx weight loss, peptide, and HRT protocols are prescribed and monitored by licensed clinicians through our telehealth partner, Dosevana.

With over 30 years in the beauty industry, Angela is both a master stylist and licensed esthetician — dedicated to helping every client look and feel their absolute best. From transformative color and precision cuts to luxury facials and customized skincare, her work is rooted in artistry and care. She believes beauty begins with balance: nurturing the health of your hair and skin while creating a style that reflects your natural glow.

Clorissa McConnell
Co-Founder
Clorissa has spent years perfecting the art of the luxury custom spray tan, running her own successful studio — Glow Central — before expanding into a full beauty and wellness space. Known for her eye for detail and that flawless, sun-kissed glow, she's built a loyal following helping clients feel confident and radiant. Beyond the glow, she offers curated piercings and continues to explore holistic skincare, inner wellness, and self-care rituals rooted in balance.

Whitney has been in the hair industry for 20 years and still loves it just as much as day one. She specializes in custom color and creating looks that feel unique and natural to each client — whether a soft refresh or a bold transformation, her goal is always beautiful, healthy hair that makes people feel confident and seen. What she loves most are the relationships that grow in her chair: real connection, honest conversations, and the trust of helping someone look and feel their best.

A seasoned hairstylist with over 8 years behind the chair, Katie is a color specialist who loves bringing her clients' hair goals to life — from bright blondes to dimensional brunettes. Her passion for hair and her people shines through, making each visit feel more like catching up with a friend than a trip to the salon. Off the clock, she's a wife and mom to three, usually curled up with a good book.
Hannah Justice
Cosmetologist / Esthetician
Happily married with three beautiful kids who keep her heart as full as her schedule, Hannah's family is her first love and her work is her second. With 15 years behind the chair, she's built more than a career — she's built connections, confidence, and countless friendships. Known for her color artistry and extension expertise, she blends technical skill with personal-hype-girl energy so every appointment feels like girls' night.
Tori Johnson
Cosmetologist / Lash Technician
A Paul Mitchell Lexington grad (2018), Tori has been a stylist for 9 years and is also a certified lash technician. She loves foil work and blonding, but her favorite part of being a stylist is the connection that forms with clients — making people feel like their best selves every day. Off the clock, she's mom to two spoiled fur babies, Riggs and Winnie.
Talisha Smith
Nail Technician
With eight years of experience behind the desk and drill in hand, Talisha brings creativity, care, and a love for detail to every service. She's dedicated to creating nails that make her clients feel confident, refreshed, and effortlessly polished.
